This is also known as a hummingbird moth or a white lined sphinx moth (according to some sources on the internet, I had to google it). I had never seen one before and didn't even know that they existed until I saw someone in my photography club post a picture of one. I went out to Quentin and Joyce's farm one evening to get photos of the lilacs before they had all dried up and these little buggers were all over the place. And believe me, the move just as fast as a hummingbird. My focus isn't great, but I was thouroughly enthralled with these things and was happy to get the photos that I did.
