2015.02.02 Golf Group

Jeff and I have a busy, busy day on Mondays. We play pickleball in the morning, then we golf with a group of friends in the afternoon. After golf, there is always a happy hour at someone's house and there are usually about 30-40 of us that attend. We always have a good time, with a great group of people.

2015.02.01 Superbowl Sunday

We spent Superbowl Sunday with Dona and Mike. The Seahawks were playing the Patriots in Arizona. Of course we were rooting for the Seahawks, but it just wasn't meant to be. Before the game, we headed to the driving range to hit a couple of buckets of balls. We are trying to keep our golf game up, but we really don't get that much time to golf.
Brandy had sent Jeff a Jelly Belly game for his birthday and we decided to play it during the football game. The jelly beans can look the same, but some of them are laced with nasty flavors, like barf for skunk. Lucky for me, I didn't get any of the nasty flavors, because I'm pretty sure that I would have puked. Dona and Mike ended up with the icky ones. They are pretty sure that Jeff and I rigged the game. =D

2015.01.31 New Bike

This is my new wheels for getting around the park. I bought a bike from someone at the park wide rummage sale that they had in January, but it was raining that day and I didn't ride the bike first, and it turned out to be a little bit too small, so I sold that and bought a brand new bike. Nothing fancy, just something to use to get around the park.

2015.01.30 Sunset Bust

Selfie

We finished eating supper and it looked like the clouds were going to break up, so we headed out to the foothills hoping for some good sunset photos. By the time we got to where we wanted to be, the clouds had gathered again and our nice sunset hopes had faded. We still had good company and found that we can find our way out of the desert in the dark.

2015.01.29 Hole in Shoe

Last year when I started playing pickleball, I purchased a pair of shoes from WalMart. Within two weeks I had worn a hole in them and returned them to purchase a good pair of court shoes from the local sporting goods store. The only time that I wear those shoes is when I am playing pickleball. I wore a hole the size of a quarter in the toe and had to replace them this year. We’ll have to see how long this next pair will last. I usually play for 2-3 hours every morning and sometimes will go play again in the evening. It’s a great game. I wish that everyone I knew played.

2015.01.28 Barry Goldwater

Dona and Jeff looking for gold.

The Ocotillos are blooming.

Jeff reeeeaaalllly wants to get a skeleton from a Saguaro, but figured it wasn't worth it to take it off of government land. =D

We made it to the top of the pass.

One of the cars that didn't make it to the top.

This part looks like it is from an airplane.

The cactus are starting to bloom.

Here's the trusty old golf cart.  We call it the Roadrunner.

Dona and Mike in their Razor.

We try to take a ride out in to the desert at least once a week.  Dona, Jeff and I will play pickleball in the morning, and then we get ready to head out to the desert. Today Mike wanted to head up through a pass in the Barry Goldwater. It turned out to be 14.3 miles up through the mountains. Most of it was a good trail, but it got a little bit rugged in parts. There were four abandoned cars that we found on the way up there. How they got there, I will never know, because the trails were not that good. We are always amazed that we make it up there with the golf cart. Mike likes to brag to his friends also that we made the trip with a golf cart. =D  Dona and Jeff look for gold every time that we go out, but they have yet to find any.  It doesn’t matter though; we always end up having a good time.

2015.01.27 Geraniums and Mom

After the rain yesterday, it was nice to see the sunshine and blue skies again. I'm also very thankful to live just down the road from mom. She helps me out when I need it and has things that I don't have so that I can borrow them when needed. It's also good to be able to just pop in and have a quick visit.
